Competing in Goodness: Join Barakah Brews in Supporting CLIC's Food Drive
There are few things more beautiful than a community coming together to help others.
This year, Barakah Brews is excited to participate in Clear Lake Islamic Center's Competing in Goodness 2026 Food Drive, and we'd love for you to join us. Together, we have an opportunity to fill pantries, support local families, and turn simple acts of generosity into something truly impactful.
To kick off the effort, Barakah Brews is pledging $100 worth of non-perishable food items, and we encourage everyone to contribute in whatever way they can. Whether it's a few cans from your weekly grocery trip or a cart full of pantry staples, every donation helps and every act of giving matters.
One of the blessings of our community is the willingness to show up for one another. Food drives are a powerful reminder that small contributions, when combined, can make a tremendous difference. A can of soup, a bag of rice, or a jar of peanut butter may seem simple, but together they become meals, comfort, and support for families who need them most.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbor to his side goes hungry."
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 112
This beautiful hadith reminds us that caring for others is woven into our faith. Giving is not only a way to help those in need, but also an opportunity to earn reward, strengthen our community, and embody the spirit of compassion that Islam teaches.
What Can You Donate?
The food drive is collecting non-perishable food items, including:
- Canned vegetables, fruit, soup, and beans
- Rice, pasta, oatmeal, and cereal
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Dry beans and lentils
- Flour and sugar
- Canned tuna, chicken, and other shelf-stable proteins
- Granola bars, crackers, and family-friendly snacks
- Shelf-stable milk and juice
If you're heading to the grocery store anyway, consider picking up a few extra items for the food drive. A small addition to your cart can have a big impact on someone's table.
A Small Thank You From Barakah Brews
We wanted to make participating a little more fun.
Anyone who donates non-perishable food items to the food drive and sends us a photo of their donation will receive a voucher for one free drink or bakery item at our next Barakah Brews pop-up at CLIC.
It's our way of saying thank you for helping make this initiative a success and for being part of a community that cares.

The theme of this year's campaign is Competing in Goodness, and what a beautiful competition it is. Not for recognition or prizes, but for the opportunity to serve others, earn reward, and spread الخير throughout our community.
We pray that Allah accepts every donation, rewards every act of generosity, and allows this effort to be a source of benefit for everyone involved. May He place barakah in our contributions, no matter how small, and make us among those who are always eager to do good.
